CV :: JF WILLIAM  :: about me [1]

Whether as president of a consulting firm specializing in video games whose services were retained by financial institutions such as Société Générale de Financement, FS-FTQ or small businesses, as lecturer, panelist & evangelist for the local industry in interviews on TV, radio, newspapers & magazines; Jean-François William is often where one doesn’t expect him, but always at the right place & time. In particular, he founded the first independent video game school in the world where he acted as director and head of R & D.

"During his tenure, JF has been behind most of the greatest business endeavors at NAD Centre. A formidable visionary, he is one of few individuals who possess a natural flair for identifying the trends that will stand the test of time. His profound knowledge of the industry, an avid curiosity for technology, arts and design matched with a highly creative mind make him a giant asset for any R & D venture. On a personal note, I found his sense of humor, self-motivation and undying sprit very refreshing to work with!" - Isabelle Marazzani / IT and Gaming Marcom Manager

PROFESSIONAL ACHEIVEMENTS

JF created the first curriculum & thus effectively founding the first independent video game school in the world in 1997 at the NAD Center where he acted as Director, Professor and Head of R & D. He also, de facto, became the evangelist for the burgeoning local game industry (now the sixth most important in the world). Granting interviews for TV, radio and newspapers, he highlighted the applied science/art form that video games really are & questioned the bad boy reputation the game industry was getting.

Always the didactic champion, he acted as video games columnist for the 2 million readers at the Journal de Montréal for 5 years (2000-05) and the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation CBC for “Clair & Net” , where he assumed the coverage of the Electronic Entertainment Expo in LA (E3), Game Developers Conference (GDC) in San Jose & London and Milia in Cannes. He wrote 2 books about it all.

He had also created the first course in managing a multimedia project for the CESAM in 1995. A curriculum given to most of the local industry all through Internet's first wave impact from 95 to 98.

JF participated in the preparation of studies and monitored reports on the local gaming industry for the Alliance NumeriQC.

His short 3D animation film "Bloup" was awarded a feature placement at the Japanese Visual Fantasy Festival as well as Siggraph. He has also been involved in the music business. As a composer, JF was rewarded by the SDE / SOCAN (the society responsable for the collection of royalties) for “The Most Played Song of the Year” and for the whole of his musical catalogue.

His work as a singer, songwriter, performer and producer of albums for his group BILL yielded “Group and Rock Album of the Year’ nominations at l’ADISQ.

He lent his voice for commercial television and radio & wrote soundtracks for animated films, multimedia products and websites.

JF now concentrates his efforts on the exploitation of his intellectual properties, where he primarily acts as creative director.

His background shows the whole of his creative side which stays firmly grounded in the corporate execution he has developed over the years as he continues to explore new avenues for his uncanny broad taste for artistic & business success.
