I live in North Carolina. I have a small business, Treklite, since 1977 where I designed and made backpacking tents, sleeping bags, and other equipment, fairings for recumbent bicycles, cases for electronic equipment, children's playground equipment, rope climbing nets, and the products that I still produce, protective orienteering clothing.

Currently I'm an artist, making mostly large temporary sculptures for special events, frequently in fabric.

I've been involved in Orienteering for almost 30 years, president of the Backwoods Orienteering Klub and was the United States Orienteering Federation Rules Committee Chairperson for about 5 years.

I'm also a sailor, and built a 43' sailboat, Prestissimo, with a lifting keel, hybrid auxiliary and unstayed mast.
