Written by Thomas W Hathaway as a Public Service: Our Pointy Nose:
In the beginning the world was full of vast herds of herbivores, groups of carnivores, and various rodent shapes and the bugs to go with it and a teeming with life ocean in in a World of perfect balance. Enter tribal humans. Not part of the ecology of the earth. Touched by God, or manipulated by aliens, or normal evolution, the local simians outgrew evolution, denied Mother Earth her say in the matter. To feed the horde a technique was developed. You wound an animal and track it till it dies. We did that and other things for an Evolutionary period. Enough time for an Evolutionary change.
Our noses grew out and pointy, from the simian flat nose.
During our trait development of pointy noses humans had a nomadic lifestyle, the tribe followed the animals they wounded. The tribe expanded to multi tribes following food. With food preservation Exploration began, but humans still in Africa, nowhere else. In order to accommodate a burgeoning mass of humans, or the earlier version of humans, they walked everywhere in every direction. Hot Africa takes it's toll, encouraging evolution in the humans.
The reason our noses became pointy is a progression prompted by Evolutionary necessity.
Head down they trudged vast distances on foot. From flat nose to pointy nose.
To survive the heat and conserve water they inhaled their sweat.
When you inhale your sweat, which human head bent down causes the sweat to travel towards your nose, which doesn't work to collect sweat at a point if your nose is flat, so pointy tip developed to collect sweat, it nicely coats the breathing system in a film of perfect moistness that prevents heat damage and reduces water and mineral and oil loss by recycling the sweated water. I have used this technique in personal Desert training. That is where this discovery came from.
As this trait became unnecessary, our pointy noses remain as a sign of the ancestral heritage we all share, and eventually, I theorize, if we last a few 100,000 more years our noses will adapt again, to our new environment. Or return to the original shape of a flat nose.
I have no credentials of any kind, or training in Exercise. In the desert it becomes obvious what to do. Obvious what is necessary. I hope you appreciate my insight, I couldn't find this discovery anywhere in other writings so that is why I try to help. Please have fun with it. Correct me in my mistakes. Knowledge is Power.
