Janno Kuld

Janno Kuld is Estonian historian and translator.

Early life

He went to Tartu Raatuse School, where he mainly focused on history and English. He firmly believed that fully learning English opens the door to the studying advanced education. Besides English, he was also good in Estonian, woodwork and nature.

Era of history

Starting from 5th class, he began his career in history. He was the best and only student in his class who really focused on history. He chose English as 1st (A) foreign language, German as 2nd (B) and Spanish as 3rd (C) language.

Translating

Kuld began translating in the game "Age of Conquest IV", followed by "Denise of Nations". Games he has translated are following:

• Age of Conquest IV (about 75% of game was translated to Estonian);
• Demise of Nations (about 50% of game was translated);
• Asian Empire 2027 (about quarter of game was translated, before he gave up because of the discomfort of working with files);

Anime

Kuld became familiar with anime around 2016,when he came across to an YouTube account, which published anime music videos (mainly Sabaton). After that, the order of animes he has watched is following:

• High School Fleet/Haifuri
• Girls und Panzer
• World Witches Series (Strike Witches/Brave Witches)
• Monogatari (all series)
• Higurashi no Naku Koro ni/When they cry
• Toradora!
• Date a Live (currently ongoing)

He is one of few people in Estonia who openly like anime.

Patriotism

As his knowledge in history and politics increased, he became aware of Soviet war crimes since 1939. His patriotism became of what some people near him teased him for. He has very radical vision of Estonia, he combined historical background with the country he started to call Estonian Empire (Eesti Impeerium).
