Mothers of the Movement
Mothers of the Movement is a group of mothers that children have been killed by police brutality. In this article it tells us a little about the program, so I think it’s best if I were to add more background information about the group. I also noticed that the article is not up to date, so I would like to find out the program whereabouts and how they are doing as of this year. Another piece of information I would like to add is way someone whose interested in the program can become a part of it. The Mothers of the Movement is a great topic when it comes to Human Rights because so many African Americans have been killed by law enforcement just because of stereotypes. When it comes to being human we all should have the right to wear hoodies or dress freely without being judge wrongfully, but kids like Trayvon Martin, and many others have been killed for reasons still unknown. This program gave mothers of color a voice to let the world hear their cries for equality amongst all people. The research I have gathered now was basically information that tells the story of the women who started up the program. I also found information about the program as of today, and I plan on using this to add more adequate information to the article.

The article I choose was “Mothers of the Movement” which was an article that’s about African American mothers who children died due to police brutality. The “Mothers of the Movement” article only have a few information about the group, so I would be adding more educational information. For the most part it’s been a challenge to find academic resources for the group because, so many don’t know or care that much about them. My job will be to make the group importance and meaning more factual and informational. I would like to put more facts about the founders, and how the group was invented. Many of the articles I found, although they weren’t academic, did have a lot of the mother’s viewpoints of why they choose to get together and the impact the group have. Since it’s been hard to find academic articles about the group my next step is to find the interviews of the mothers that were the starters of the group. I think adding more information about how to join and the mission of the group will make the article more believe and maybe even have people more interested about joining the group.

Mothers of the Movement is an organization that came about during Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign. Hillary Clinton along with seven mothers (mothers of Michael Brown, Sandra Bland, Hadiya Pendleton, Eric Garner, Trayvon Martin, Dontre Hamilton, and Jordan Davis) joined together at a food restaurant to discuss their stories of how their children were killed due to police brutality as well as speak on the problems they faced dealing with the death. During the meeting, Hillary Clinton grew sympathetic when hearing these tragic stories and later ask the mothers to join with her as she traveled for her campaign. Clinton asked that the mothers to speak during her campaign to hopefully gain more voters. Along with gaining voters, she hoped that she could also get others that are not affected by the killings to also wake up and lend a hand to help stop racism. When Clinton lost the Democratic race to Senator Bernie Sanders, the Mothers of the Movement excitement also died down and was replaced with the BLACK LIVES MATTER Movement.[1]
