I am an academic researcher at the University of Saskatchewan with a special interest in the application of computer technology to creative processes such as visual arts, music and narrative. My focus is on the nature of creative cognition and the ways in which computers can be leveraged to facilitate that cognitive process. This interest arose after many years working in the commercial software development field and noticing that computers are being used to facilitate efficiency of production far moreso than they are applied to the creative process itself.

In 2008, I was appointed one of the managing editors of the new humanities computing journal /Digital Studies.
