James D. Jenkins is an Information Systems Management expert and Academic with a focus on software development teams, organizational development, information security and privacy. Jenkins is currently working at Microsoft Corporation and teaches in the graduate school of Business and Economics at Seattle Pacific University in Seattle, Washington.

Personal life

Jenkins was born in Chicago, Illinois, to David N. Jenkins and Ann Marie Olsson. His father was a Computer Programmer, and his mother was a first generation immigrant from Sweden. Jenkins has one elder brother, Rich (Richard), an elder sister, Carol, and a younger sister, Anna Lisa.

In 1987, Jenkins met and married Elaine C. Hoekstra, an education student he met while they attended Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan. They moved to Everett, Washington in 1989.

Jim and Elaine Jenkins had three children.

Career

Jenkins received a degree in Communication Arts and Sciences from Calvin College in 1987 and received a Masters of Science Degree in Information Systems Management in 2007. He has worked a significant portion of his career in different positions within Microsoft Corporation in their Redmond, Washington facility.

Research

Jenkins research examines organizational trust and team cohesion within information technology teams, looking specifically as ways to speed the process of cohesion to increase the successful completion of software development projects.
