Honoris United Universities is a pan-African private higher education network that includes tertiary education institutions in North and Southern Africa. Known as Honoris, the network uses a concept of ‘collaborative intelligence’, which allows all the institutions within the network to pool and share their teaching pedagogies and academic intelligence. Honoris’ stated mission is to "prepare and to educate solutions-oriented leaders and professionals".[1]
Honoris United Universities was developed by Actis[1], a private equity company founded in 2004, which focuses on the energy, education, infrastructure and real estate asset classes in emerging markets.
The Founders of Honoris are four senior academics across the African continent, namely:
- Slah et Chédia Ben Turkia, a co-Founder of Université Centrale Group, IMSET and Académie d’Art de Carthage, Tunisia
- Professor Yusuf Karodia, Founder of MANCOSA (Management College of Southern Africa) and REGENT Business School, Southern Africa. The Professor was named African Educator of the Year 2010 in African Leadership Magazine’s ‘Education Development’ category[2].
- Dr. Bargach El Fatimi, Dr. Jawad Khayat, Dr. Kamal Daissaoui and Mr. Zouhair Benabbou, a co-Founder of EMSI, Ecole Marocaine des Sciences de l’Ingénieur, Morocco
- M. Lotfi El Eulj, Founder of Université Mundiapolis, Morocco

CSR initiatives
[edit]- Women in Africa: Honoris partners with Women in Africa Philanthropy[2][3] at the Annual Women in Africa Initiative (WIA) Summit[4], providing support for young women entrepreneurs from across the continent[5]. Every year, Honoris United Universities organizes a bootcamp dedicated to the 54 laureates of the WIA54 program.
- MANCOSA Million Books Project: Honoris supports widening access to education by lending its support to the MANCOSA Million Books Project[6] [7], an initiative by Professor Karodia.
- Ventilation system: In solidarity, Université Centrale in Tunisia partnered with Digital Industry Tools Expert (DITEX), bringing together the expertise of Dassault Systems, Université de Lorraine in France and industrial engineering company TECH-3D. Together, they produced a non-invasive ventilation system that can be made from inexpensive, commonly accessible components - making it easy to produce globally.
