I am a freelance reputation and crisis management consultant. Good reputation and crisis management depend on openness, honesty and transparency. Whatever actions I take on Wikipedia - suggesting corrections to existing pages, for example - will always be in my own name, not a pseudonym. The only time I have used a pseudonym is when I was writing local issue articles for my local glossy magazine and, in one issue, had been commissioned for so many that the editor was worried it would look unbalanced; I agreed to write one regular column using another name (Olivia Alexander); the rest were in my name.
I have always loathed spin; there is no room for it in reputation and crisis management - it does not fit in with openness, honesty and transparency. I have a blog about crisis management in which I consistently argue against spin and criticise those who use it. If a prospective client wants to engage in spin, I advise them not to. If they are insistent, I will not work for them. This has never happened; I find that if I explain the reasoning to the client, they understand and adopt a policy of openness, honesty and transparency. Facts count. Fiction will always be exposed and will almost always damage reputation; it is not worth the risk.
When relevant, I advise clients to ensure information about them on Wikipedia is accurate. It is a fact that organisations or individuals who are in the midst of a reputation crisis will attract criticism and, occasionally, rogue comments including on Wikipedia. Ensuring incorrect information does not endure is sensible and important.

Revised declaration: I remain a sole trader providing freelance consultancy services including ensuring entries in Wikipedia are accurate and correct. I continue to provide this service for Allchurches Trust for which I will be charging a fee based on the time this task takes up. Joanna Biddolph (talk) 15:37, 20 January 2017 (UTC)
First declaration: I am a sole trader providing freelance consultancy services. Very occasionally, those services include ensuring entries in Wikipedia are correct. I have done this twice in my 20 year career as a freelance consultant. Currently, I am working with Allchurches Trust. I anticipate editing the existing Wikipedia entry for which I will not be charging a fee. Joanna Biddolph (talk) 15:24, 11 November 2016 (UTC)
