Jojo Mehta is a British lawyer and campaigner, she is the CEO and co-founder of Stop Ecocide International.[1] She co-founded Stop Ecocide in 2017 with barrister Polly Higgins, to support ecocide becoming the fifth crime at the International Criminal Court.[2] She is Chair of the Stop Ecocide Foundation as well as the convenor of the Independent Expert Panel for the Legal Definition of Ecocide.[3]


Jojo is a graduate of University of Oxford and Goldsmiths, University of London.

Before founding Stop Ecocide International she worked in communications, entrepreneurship and wider environmental campaigning.[4]

"We believe that a law like this actually will have to come into play at some point. All we're trying to do is accelerate that point in order to protect humanity."[3]
