Public toilets in Belgium are few, at around seven per 100,000 people but less than five per 100,000 people in the capital. Bars and restaurants are popular alternatives to government run public toilets.

The local word for public toilet is toilet.[1] There are not many public toilets in the country.[2] A 2021 study found there were seven public toilets per 100,000 people.[3] Brussels had less than five public toilets in open space per 100,000 residents in 2018.[4] There were 175 public toilets in Brussels in 2022, amount to one public toilet per 11,000 residents.[5] Bars and cafes in big cities are the places where the public are most likely to find toilets they can use.[2] The typical charge to use a public toilet is €0,50.[1]
The most common type of toilet is a sit toilet.[1] Western Europe tends to use flush toilets, with some older public toilets possibly having pull cords instead of handles or buttons.[6] Public toilets often have toilet paper.[1]
