Kinyera Anthony Lakomekec (born December 24, 1994, in Kitgum District, Uganda) is a distinguished Ugandan journalist with a notable career across Northern Uganda. Known for his dedication to media excellence, Anthony has made significant contributions to journalism and community development.
Early Life and Education
Anthony was born and raised in Kitgum District, Uganda. He completed his Ordinary Level (O-Level) education at Kitgum High School and pursued Advanced Level (A-Level) studies at Sir Samuel Baker School. Driven by a passion for journalism, he earned a Diploma in Journalism and Mass Communication from the East African Institute for Management Science.
Career
Anthony began his journalism career at Mega FM in Gulu, where he developed foundational skills in news reporting and broadcasting. His career progressed with roles at Radio Luo FM in Pader, Uganda Radio Network (URN), and Watchdog Uganda, where he covered a wide range of issues from local to national significance. Currently, Anthony is the News Editor at Rapa FM in Pader District, where he manages the station’s news operations and ensures the delivery of accurate and timely news to the community.
Training and Professional Affiliations
Anthony has enhanced his expertise through investigative journalism training provided by the African Center for Media Excellence in Lira City and Jinja City. He is also a fellow of InfoNile, an organization focused on data-driven journalism in the Nile Basin region. In addition to his journalistic endeavors, Anthony is a member of PALNHAS, a humanitarian organization in Northern Uganda.
