James Brown, often called The Godfather of Soul, passed away on Christmas Day (December 25), 2006. Please post your messages to James Brown here, and show him your respects. His final words were "I'm going away tonight".

• Although I never listened to much of James Brown, his death really made me realise what he did to modern music, not just soul. He defined the '60s, '70s. '80s, and a bit of the '50s too.
