Kafa Coh: The Verdict

Kafa Coh: The Verdict is an upcoming Ugandan legal film directed by Gilbert Lukalia from a screenplay by Musa Luswata Doreen Mirembe and Adinjay Pormasu. Produced by Doreen Mirembe, this was the actress-cum-producer’s first attempt at making a feature film. This was after she had produced and starred in a short film, Dog Story. She later produced Nector.

Kafa Coh: The Verdict follows a young lawyer that gets caught up in a high profile legal battle.

The film was initially announced for release on October 9, 2020, however, with the Covid-19 pandemic, the release was indefinitely called off only weeks after its producers had embarked on a marketing campaign.

The film stars British Nigerian actor Kalu Ikeagwu, this was his first East African collaboration. Kalu is joined by a powerhouse of Ugandan actors, Abbey Mukiibi, Mariam Ndagire, both Michael Wawuyo and Michael Wawuyo Jr, Mirembe herself and Rehema Nanfuka among others.

This was also Lukalia’s first film directorial debut in Uganda, though, he had previously worked with theatre producer and director Adong Judith on Silent Voices Uganda's stage productions, Just Me, You and The Silence and Subira.
