Bibliography[edit]

  • McGinley, Sean P.; Wei, Wei; Lisa Gao (25 Oct 2018) "The effect of anticipated emotional labor on hotel employees’ professional mobility". Journal of Hospitality Marketing & Management. [1]
    • This study looked at the anticipated emotional labor and current emotional labor on hotel employees. The results of this study showed that when emotional labor is higher, employees are less likely to be professional, when undergoing this emotional stress. This would be a beneficial addition to the wikipedia article.
  • Miranda, Mayola; Godwin, Marcia L. (22 Aug 2018) "Emotional Labor Beyond the Frontlines: Work Settings, Interactions, and Coping Strategies". Administrative Theory & Praxis. [2]
    • This article looks at the different emotional labor theories and studies, but digs deeper into the different degrees of interaction in the workplace. This article also has a case study of child protective services and how that emotional labor effects certain individuals.
  • Guy, Mary E.; Azhar, Aisha (15 Aug 2018) "Emotional Labor Meanings, Gender, and Culture: A Comparative Assessment". Administrative Theory & Praxis.[3]
    • This article looks at emotional labor for public service workers around the world, but specifically looks at gender specifics and how gender might affect emotional labor. I think this would be very beneficial to add into the wikipedia page because there is a gender section, and the information should be beneficial to add.
  • Van Gelderen, Benjamin R.; Konijn, Elly A.; Bakker, Arnold B. (08 Feb 2016) "Emotional labor among police officers: a diary study relating strain, emotional labor, and service performance". The International Journal of Human Resource Management. [4]
    • This article contains a diary study that looks at emotional labor and conservation of resources theory. They looked at police officers before and after their work shift on emotional labor and emotional dissonance. This could help the career section on the wikipedia article.
  • Matteson, Miriam L.; Miller, Shelly S. (09 Jun 2014) "What Library Managers Should Know about Emotional Labor". Public Library Quarterly. [5]
    • This article looks at emotional labor in the library setting and looks at strategies to minimize the negative effects on staff and users of the library. This article could help the coping skills section in the wikipedia article.
  • Mastracci, Sharon; Adams, Ian (05 Sep 2018) "“That’s What the Money’s for”: Alienation and Emotional Labor in Public Service". Administrative Theory & Praxis. [6]
    • This article looks at the the risk of alienation because of unsupported emotional labor demands of jobs. It also looks at emotional labor theory and how public service jobs can be effected. I think the addition of alienation could be good for the wikipedia article.
  • Allen, Joseph A.; Augustin Tara (02 Apr 2021) "So much more than cheap labor! Volunteers engage in emotional labor". The Social Science Journal. [7]
    • This article looks at the lowering rate of volunteers in many different organizations and how emotional labor is a key aspect in these positions. They look at volunteers in nonprofit organizations and how emotional labor has effected them. I think this would be a good addition because there is not a section about volunteers and/or nonprofit organizations in the wikipedia article, but in the Talk page, there is talk about adding one.
  • Rinfret, Sara R.; McCandless, Sean; Grewell, Cara (22 Feb 2022) "Emotional labor & COVID-19: MPA program director perspectives". Journal of Public Affairs Education. [8]
    • This article looks at the role of emotional labor during the COVID-19 pandemic in Pastor of Public Administration Program directors. They looked at emotional labor prior to the pandemic and then during. The article also takes a look at gender and academic rank and how that affected the workload during the pandemic. There is no section about the pandemic in the wikipedia article, and I think that could be a beneficial addition.
  • Zhang, Qilong; Yin, Jianqin; Chen, Hua; Zhang, Quan; Wu, Weiying (20 Nov 2019) "Emotional Labor Among Early Childhood Teachers: Frequency, Antecedents, and Consequences". Journal of Research in Childhood Education. [9]
    • This article looks at the variables that influence emotion labor among early childhood teachers. This study looked at teachers in China using a questionnaire about their teaching experience, along with interactions with the children and their families. This could be a good addition to the wikipedia article because there is no teaching section.
  • Kucukusta, Deniz; Lim, Yoo Jin (26 Dec 2020) "Emotional Labor of Frontline Employees: Generational Differences and Intention to Stay". Journal of China Tourism Research. [10]
    • This article looks at emotional labor in frontline employees in the hospitality industry, but specifically looked at generation x and y and their socio-demographic characteristics. This article would be interesting to add into the wikipedia article because there is not a generation section.
