- This article is about the formation of the Communist Party of India and how the Naxalites formed from this party and their history from the formation to modern day. The specific use of detail this article includes is the reasoning behind their attacks, specifically the rise in the mining industry in the affected areas and how the locals are upset over this. This assists with my question because I will be able to answer how the Naxalites create loyalty.

This source expresses how the Naxalites find ways to recruit the best insurgents in order for their conflict against the Indian Government to continue, and the author describes how the insurgents focus on a specific age-group in order to bring in the most loyal incoming recruits. The journal also discusses what the exemplar revolutionary should be, and how the Naxals focus their recruitment on college students and similar-aged youth. In terms of my research question, this journal assists me because it allows me to understand which groups of people the Naxals continually recruit from and how they maintain retention.

This article is a timeline which gives a yearly account of how the Naxalite insurgency was created, and how certain factors such as uprisings and key individuals assisted in the formation of this conflict in the modern day. The specific details from this article which I find of use would be the 1967 uprising in a small West Bengal village called "Naxalbari", and how this village became the foundation for the insurgency which plagues the eastern portion of the nation. The article further discusses the key essential founder of the movement known as Charu Majumdar and how his teachings and beliefs cause the Naxalites to stand for what they believe in today. This piece will be useful to my research question because I will be able to extract information on the beginnings of the movement and how it affects the nation today.

This piece willmbe useful for my research question because I will discuss how the mining industry affects this insurgency and how the Naxalites also receive their finances from the industry as well.
