The Center for the Initiative on Belarus (CIB) is a non-profit voluntary organization established in 2014 to advance the cause of democratic and free Belarus. CIB currently operates in the Washington, DC area.

Vision statement

That Belarus realizes its potential as a democratic country, respected and responsible member in the family of nations, pursuing its inherent national interests.

Mission statement

The CIB will establish a platform to represent and advance the interests of democratic community Belarus in Washington, become a voice of Belarusian civil society and democratic forces, run advocacy activities for a free and democratic Belarus and contribute to coordination of the support for civil society and promotion of the democratic rule in Belarus.

Objectives

1. Increase awareness about Belarus in the United States.

2. Facilitate a productive dialogue between Belarusian democratic forces.

3. Contribute to enhancing the cohesiveness of the activities of Belarusian civil society.

4. Offer expertise based on the national interests of Belarus.

Activities

The Center pursues activities covering major components related to democracy promotion in Belarus. The pursuit and development of specific objectives should make these efforts comprehensive.

1) Raising awareness and working with experts.

2) Facilitation and coordination.

3) Advocacy and policy recommendations.
