Da-da is an ancient tradition of collective birthday celebrations, observed in northern region of Gilgit-Baltistan, in Pakistan. Infants of age less than two year are dressed like princesses and princes are brought in a common place. Local cuisine and sweets are offered to all those who participate. People greet the families who have newly born babies with lot of gifts and prayers. An elderly person in the village or in the family holds up the infant at the back and takes some steps, while participants say wishes and prayers for the longevity and happiness of the infant. The celebrations are usually held during Nouroz.[1][2]
