History
[edit]CEO/Founder: Gregg Champion
Champion's early business ventures
[edit]Gregg Champion first began pondering the idea of OneCubicle while he was viewing his LinkedIn page and watching The Office. He thought that if you could take the business model of LinkedIn, and combine it with the fun, day-to-day life of the TV show The Office, 20-somethings would buy into it. The amount of social networking sites and job/career posting sites at the time was very large. Champion noticed this and believed that no social network brought the two together wrapping up jobs and careers advice. From there Gregg went on to build the Onecubicle business plan and coding bringing it all together.
Getting Started
[edit]Once the plan was set Champion set out to find investors but found that no one would indulge in his plans because he had no solid demo. As a startup company Champion didn't have the resources to put together a full scale $40,000 demo and was unsure of what to do. While on a business trip in Thailand Champion ran into a good friend who informed him that if he could manage to stay a few extra weeks, they could put together a full scale demo that would surely get things going for under $5,000. Champion went with his gut and stayed the extra weeks and came out with a solid new demo.
Early Investing
[edit]Now that Champion had his entire set of assets ready to go all he needed next were investors. He set out to propose his plan to multiple investors and on his third try he succeeded receiving initial Angel funding to get things moving. From there OneCubicle set up shop in Santa Monica, CA and began building its team of Marketing, Advertising, and Media specialists along with a solid base of interns that keep the company moving in a 20-something centered direction.
