Bijou Karman (French:[bee-zhooz] born January 16, 1992) is an illustrator, artist, and designer[1] based in Los Angeles, California[2]. Karman graduated with distinction from the Art Center College of Design in 2014 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration[3]. According to multiple interviews, she is inspired by "nostalgia, strong women, plants, and a love of print and bright colors"[4]. In addition to fashion illustration, she also does editorial work and enjoys creating zines[5]. Her art has been featured in publications such as American Illustration (38 in 2019 and 37 in 2018) and Fashion Drawing: Illustration Techniques for Fashion Designers by Michele Wesen Bryant and was published by Laurence King Publishing in 2016[6] . Rihanna discovered Karman online and asked her to create promotional illustrations for a collaboration with Stance Socks in 2016[7]. Even before taking on Rihanna as a client, Karman designed a display for the Italian brand Peuterey while still in school[8].
