My village Okamatapati[edit]
Okamatapati is situated in Otjozondjupa region under the Okakarara constituency, Namibia. It has a geographical coordination of 20° 24' 0" South, 18° 13' 0" East and its original name (with diacritics) is Okamatapati. Located through a route that connects the northern and north east regions through the Trans Kalahari high way. [1]. It has an up growing population of Otjiherero speaking people. Okamatapati has one school (okamatapati Junior School) that has rapidly increased over a short period of time in terms of academic performance, learners are very eager to study. Grade 10 learners passing rate has increased above average. Funds are being raised to upgrade school facilities such as libraries, add more computers so that learners can do their research and have a better understanding about what is trendy in their country. It’s a settlement area with one clinic and one police station which is under construction [2]. The head of chief falls under kambazembi royal house. Economically it’s fairly developed, has an office of agriculture to teach farmers how to better manage their livestock during drought as well as raining seasons, grow grass with the intention of selling it to make an income. Provides services of water, farmers get their water outlet from Namwater and/or the ministry of and rural development. Most people are self-employed, they earn income on a monthly basis through selling their livestock. It has good grazing land and fertile soil that is good for vegetation, and is the dominant form of plant life. We own a lot of cattle that is approximately 10 000 to 15 000herds. This cattle provide people with milk and other dairy products such as: butter and sour cream. Generally the Herero people of Namibia are a pastoral cattle breeding nation. Cattle is their main source of food and income. Okamatapati is a home town for communal farming. [3]
