Radio 104.5 (WRFF), pronounced Radio One-O-Four-Five, is a modern rock radio station broadcasting at 104.5 FM in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Clear Channel Communications launched the station on May 16, 2007, marking the return of the genre to Philadelphia airwaves for the first time since the loss of Y100 in February 2005. The station plays alternative and modern rock from the late '90s and '00s, focusing mainly on the lighter side. The station's website provides listeners with a live broadcast, along with many other user interactive features. Radio 104.5 currently competes with WXPN-HD2, a resurrection of the former Y100 format.

Sunday: 9 p.m. - 10:30 p.m. (New Music Show).

Several other off-air staff members are referenced regularly by the D.J.'s on air as well. These personalities work behind the scenes and are responsible for much of is played on the station. [1]

Events[edit]

Local Concerts[edit]

Radio 104.5 is a proud sponsor of many of the bands that come to Philadelphia to play shows at various venues. Advertising is usually done through commercials or talk from the D.J.'s. The station attends many of these concerts and provides feedback and photos to listeners. Often times, through phone, text or email, listeners are eligible to win free tickets to these concerts.

On occasion, Radio 104.5 will create and host their own concerts. These typically include themed events and take place during the summer or around the holidays. [2]

Studio Sessions[edit]

Radio 104.5 brings some of the biggest names in modern rock to the studio to perform live acoustic sets on the air. These shows are usually done on a weekly basis and air at various times. Short interviews with the artists are usually done between songs. Many of the live songs become popular and are added to regular rotation. An archive of all of the performances, as well as upcoming performances, is available on the station's website.

Many locals bands are also able to perform live acoustic sets on the air every Friday at 5 p.m. This show is called Live @ 5. These performances can also be viewed on the station's website. [3]

Feedback[edit]

Radio 104.5 is well-known for their interest in listener feedback. The station has partnered with Rate the Music to send out monthly surveys to listeners via email. These surveys inform the station what listeners are interested in hearing and what they do not want to hear. Radio 104.5 uses this service to sample a lot of new music before it is ever played on the air. It also informs the station of what songs are overplayed and what they should cut back.

The station also welcomes feedback via mail, email, or phone. Many of the D.J.'s encourage listeners to call in at given times to discuss a topic of interest on air.

Radio 104.5 also provides feedback to listeners on demand. The last 10 songs played can be found on their homepage and the last 3 songs by sending a text "WTF" to 91045. Any other information regarding the station, including schedules and events, can be found by navigating the website. [4]
