Article Evaluation
Language immersion article evaluation thoughts:
Entire article seems to be written with slant - it isn't neutral. Is this comprehensive of the topic or language immersion or just language immersion curricular programs?
Are there negative outcomes of language immersion too?
Lead section is unclear, especially the use of the word "context" in the first paragraph.
Last sentence in second lead paragraph is grammatically unsound with semicolon and comma use.
First sentence in second paragraph should have a citation.
Multiple missing citations in first sentence of second paragraph under "background"
Citations under "outcomes" section do not seem to come from reliable sources, for example: Morris,Bernadette citation.
Some citations don't link to anything
Talk page: part of 2 class projects and a Wikipedia project on linguistics.
Critical Applied Linguistics page:
I wanted to review a "stub" page or page that Wikipedia listed as needing significant edits. This page definitely demonstrates this criteria - it has no citations and nothing other than a two sentence lead paragraph. This is the type of article that I think I would like to review, since there is a lot of obvious contribution to the work that could happen!
Schumann identifies eight factors that influence social distance: social dominance, integration pattern, enclosure, cohesiveness, size factor, cultural congruence, attitude factor, and intended length of residence. He also identifies three factors that influence psychological distance: motivation, attitude, and culture shock.
Critical language Awareness:
Can use book by Norman Fairclough - Critical Language awareness. not yet cited
Clean up citations at end of main section - unclear what is cited where.
Why is political correctness cited as a connected page? Seems biased
External links seem extremely biased/blog/opinion articles.
