As the world's freshwater supply begins to deplete, transboundary water conflicts become more prominent among transnational boundaries. Given the necessity for freshwater, or drinking water, water resource management becomes an important predictor of water conflicts among nations.^[1]

Transboundary Waters

Transboundary waters are waters in which two, or more, different states borders the same body of water. In order to ensure that water conflict does not occur, transboundary water arrangements, or agreements, are made.^[2] These cooperations are supposed to be equitable and sustainable, according to the UN^[3], in which each state does not abuse the waters, but rather use these waters to their best benefits that protects and reserves it.
