Kroi is a five-piece band from Japan that presents a mixed musical style sublimating influences from all genres of music, including R&B/funk/soul/rock/hip-hop. Their label is Pony Canyon/IRORI Records.

Summary[edit]

Leo Uchida (Gt./Vo.) and Yuki Hasebe (Gt.), classmates from junior high school who were each active in music, and Masanori Seki (Ba.) and Hedetomo Masuda (Dr.), college classmates, met through Instagram's DM function and formed in February 2018. in December 2019, managerDaiki Chiba, who was their roommate, joined the band.IRORI Records.Daiki Chiba(Key.), who was their roommate, joined the band.

The band's name comes from the idea of creating a new musical style by incorporating the colors of all musical genres, and is named after "black (Kroi in Japanese)," which comes from the fact that when all colors are mixed together, they become black.

History[edit]

Formed in February 2018. In October of the same year, they made their sound debut with the distribution single "Suck a Lemmon".
In 2019, they will perform at "Can we go out! Summer Soni!" They entered an audition and won over 3000 applications to perform at "SUMMER SONIC 2019". In September of the same year, the band's first physical release and 1st EP "Polyester" was released.
In December 2019, the band released its 2nd single, "Fire Brain" (distribution single). The song garnered attention by ranking in the top 10 of the iTunes Store R&B/Soul rankings and being selected for J-WAVE's "SONAR TRAX".
In March 2020, they released their third single, "Network" (single for distribution), which was selected for many playlists including Spotify, and in May 2020, they released a 5-song EP, "hub," which includes the same song.
The music video for "Fire Brain" was released in July 2019. Simultaneously released an Instagram filter following the idea of the music video, "Fire Brain," which was picked up by various media outlets.
Released their 4th Single "HORN" on October 16, 2020.
In November 2020, he was selected by SPACE SHOWER TV as one of the "SPACE SHOWER RETSUDEN NEW FORCE ARTIST" in the second half of the year 2020.
On December 3, 2020, the 5th single "Page" was released. The song was used as the theme song for TV Tokyo's "Mizudora 25" (The Day Tokyo Design is Born).
In January 2021, they released their 3rd EP "STRUCTURE DECK". The EP was selected for Tower Records' "Tower Records Men" and HMV's "Eichioshi. In February of the same year, the EP release tour "DUEL" was held at Shibuya WWW, and the major release from IRORI Records, a label within Pony Canyon, was announced. Major 1st Album is scheduled to be released in June of the same year.
Major 1st Album "LENS" was released on June 23, 2021. Album release tour "unevenness" will start from Sapporo in July of the same year.
Balmy Life" was selected for the power play on 47 radio stations in Japan, and ranked No.1 in Japan for airplay on the "Radio On Air Chart" announced on June 30, 2021 (total period: 2021/6/21 - 2021/6/27).
Released 4th EP "nerd" on November 17, 2021.
Balmy Life" won the annual grand prize in the "FM Q LEAGUE AWARD" selected by the "FM Q League" consisting of 8 FM stations in Kyushu and Yamaguchi from the power play songs on air in 2021.
Yaffle selected "Balmy Life" as No. 5 on Sekijam's "Pro's Choice of My 10 Best Songs of 2021".
Kroi Live Tour 2022 "Survive" will be held at Shinsaibashi BIGCAT on April 24, 2022 and at Zepp DiverCity TOKYO on May 25, 2022 in Tokyo and Osaka.
Performs at "TOKYO M.A.P.S Yaffle EDITION" at Roppongi Hills Arena on May 4, 2022.
Released 2nd Album "Telegraph" on July 27, 2022. The album release tour "Broadcast" was held from Kanagawa in September of the same year.
On July 31, 2022, the band performed at FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL'22 WHITE STAGE.
On August 12, 2022, held a free live concert "Kroi FREE LIVE 'TAKE OFF'" at Zepp Haneda, which was streamed live for free on the official YouTube channel.
On March 29, 2023, the 2nd EP "MAGNET" was released. Performed in "Technics presents "Connect" Online Live Season 2," a free live streaming event on the day of release. In April of the same year, he began a nationwide tour "Kroi 2023 "Magnetic" Tour BLUE / RED". The tour consisted of 15 shows: 13 "BLUE" shows at live houses and 2 "RED" shows at halls.
Appointed as the music ambassador of Tokyo Verdy, a professional soccer club in 2023. Hard Pool" is chosen as the theme song for Tokyo Verdy's home games and stadium events.

October 4, 2023Released 1st major label SG "Hyper". The song was chosen as the opening theme for the TV anime "Under Ninja". The music video for the song was shot in Taiwan.
From November to December 2023, Kroi Live Tour "Dig the Deep" Vol.4" was held. Guest artists included Tempalay, OKAMOTO'S, nobodyknows+, Nulbarich, Bialystocks, Ovall, and Creep Hype.
On January 17, 2024, the 2nd major SG "Sesame" was released. This song is chosen as the opening theme for the TV anime "Buttigiri? and was chosen as the opening theme for the TV animation "Buttigiri?
Leo Uchida (Kroi) joined Nulbarich's new song "DISCO PRANK feat. Leo Uchida (Kroi)" as a featured vocalist, which was distributed on December 13, 2024.
On January 20, 2024, the band held a sold-out one-man live concert at the Nippon Budokan in Tokyo. The live performance was streamed live on U-NEXT.
