Bibliography

Edit this section to compile the bibliography for your Wikipedia assignment. Add the name and/or notes about what each source covers, then use the "Cite" button to generate the citation for that source.

Epitranscriptomics of SARS-CoV-2 Infection[1]

- This would probably be helpful to add to an article, as Covid-19 was a big issue

- Concerns: is the information too new? Is Frontiers a reliable source?

Pathogenic Roles of m6A Modification in Viral Infection and Virus-driven Carcinogenesis[2]

- Examines methods of m6A modification and how they affect viruses and cancers

- Is this too specific? I need to do more reading to make this assessment

RNA m6A modifications in mammalian gametogenesis and pregnancy[3]

The Significance of N6-Methyladenosine RNA Methylation in Regulating the Hepatitis B Virus Life Cycle[4]

NOTES:

"m6A methylation, which involves adding of a methyl group to the adenosine base at position nitrogen 6, is the most extensively studied and common internal modification in cellular RNAs [7, 8]. This modification is associated with essential biological processes, including immune response, cell differentiation, circadian clock regulation, sex determination, stress responses, and carcinogenesis". Definition of m6A methylation and related processes.

There are many opportunities for m6A methylation of the HBV virus.

Methylation most often occurs on nucleotide 1907, which has an adenine base. This may be too close to the original sentence and be considered plagiarism!!! Read and revise later.

Effects of this modification:

- Increases transcription of the HBV virus

- Induces a structural conformation change to increase reverse transcription, which aids in the formation of capsids containing viral DNA.

- Facilitates the export of RNA from the nucleus of the HBV virus

- Many of these effects were studied by either inhibiting or depleting the amount of methyltransferases 3 and 14, which play large roles in m6A methylation.

Outline of proposed changes

[edit]

Click on the edit button to draft your outline.

Very brief and vague outline:

- additional information on how m6A modifications can affect diseases and bacteria: Covid-19, Hepatitis B, Viral Infection (?). Add this to the bacteria section

- information on the effects of m6A modifications in pregnancy - add to the mammals subsection
