Iceland’s Timeline Between 1300’s/1500’s
(1315-1317)- The Great Famine.
The Great Famine was one of the series of large scale crisis that hit Europe in the early fourteenth century. Some of the continental Europe and The Great Britain where affected.
(1374-1379)- The Black Death.
In the 14th century the bubonic plague killed half
Of the population. In 1402 the black plague makes a second appearance that wipes out 33% of the population.
(1380)- Norway and Iceland becomes controlled by Denmark.
Norway and Iceland is controlled by Denmark because Denmark created Iceland and Norway to make them have a better economy.
(1387)- The Kalmar Act
The Kalmar Act of Union unites with Iceland, Norway, and Denmark. Scandinavian union formed at Kalmar, Sweden in June 1395 that brought both of the kingdoms of Sweden, Norway and Denmark together.
(1402)- The Bubonic plague
In the 14th century the bubonic plague reached Iceland and half is killed of the population. In (1494) The Bubonic plague makes a second appearance in Iceland and nearly killed another half of the population.
(1413)- Iceland Currency
In the 14th century Iceland started to use dried fish as money because Iceland didn’t have any other way to make money.
