Analysis of Article

[edit]

Add here the issues you see with your current article that you might address. For instance: The introduction can be expanded and the following categories could all be added:

  1. Education needed to earn degree. How many years?
  2. Salary for Emergency Nurses.
  3. Stats about the job worldwide. How many emergency nurses are there? Shortage/ Surplus
  4. Advanced degrees for Emergency Nurses.
  5. Differences between emergency nurses and regular nurses.
  6. Training for emergency nurses?

This is a decent article. The only issue that I have with it is that it tells you what job qualifications a ENP has in the UK and US but does not inform the reader on how to achieve the job as a ENP. I hope to include and inform the reader on what education and criteria are needed to become and ENP.

To obtain the career as an EMP you must achieve the required credentials for this job. Once your application is accepted you must then take the ENP exam.In order to sit for the ENP Certification Exam, a candidate must meet the following experience criteria: Three years experience in Emergency Communications or Three years experience with a commercial provider of Emergency Communications products and services.[6]From 1992 through 2002, the number of emergency department (ED) visits increased by 23%, an increase from 89.8 million to 110.2 million visits annually, while the number of hospital EDs in the United States decreased by about 15%.[4] This increase in Emergency Department visits has drastically affected the role/ job of the ENP's (Emergency Nurse Practitioners) contrary to the patients the number of certified nurses has begun a downfall. This crowding and shortage have combined to put undue pressure on the existing staff, many of whom simply quit when they cannot take the stress anymore.About 1 in 5 nurses quit every year.[5] If this trend continues this same pathway by year 2025, the nursing shortage could dip as low as 500,000. What can be done to replenish the nursing shortage? Well, the average age of nurses now is 45. Therefore, there is a demand for younger newer nurses needed in the workforce. There are two suggestions in which the nursing shortage can be replenished. One way is to increase federal funding for hospitals so they can hire more trained nurses.[5]The other way is to increase the state and federal grants for nursing schools to encourage nursing careers and have more people graduate every year.[5] Possibly if these suggestions were fulfilled the nursing shortage could be resolved fairly quickly. Through the increase in government funding and nursing involvement in colleges and universities there could be a great expansion in this much needed field of work.
