Lawrence Kaptein is an American choral conductor, editor, arranger, and music educator. He is best known for his contributions to the multicultural choral movement in the United States and to his programming innovations in the choral music field. [1] Running a search on "Kaptein" in this book's Google books entry doesn't bring anything up.

Kaptein was a faculty member in the College of Music at the University of Colorado at Boulder from 1985-2010. During his tenure at the University of Colorado he served as Associate Director of Choral Studies and Director of Choral Music Education (1985-1992), Director of Choral Studies (1992-2010), and Chairman of the Conducting Faculty (1994-98). In 2009, he served as a choral advisor to The Foundation for Music Education's National Choral Honors Project [5]Not sure about this, looks like a self-submitted bio. Is this text that you submitted to the FME? in Lubbock, Texas. His strategies for recruiting ensemble singers while a professor at the University of Colorado at Boulder have also been cited and adopted by colleagues at other institutions [6] as are his kinesthetically-based rehearsal strategies [7].Can't locate either of these sources to view, can you give me an idea of what they contain, text-wise?

Kaptein has published scholarly articles and reviews in the "Choral Journal," "American Choral Review," "Bulletin of the International Federation of Choral Music," and Austria's "Musikerziehung Osterreichischer Bundesverlag." His research has been cited in other scholarly publications, including "Creating the Special World: A Collection of Lectures by Weston Noble," [8].A search of this book does not show any instances of the term "Kaptein".

Kaptein received music degrees from Willamette University, Portland State University, and the University of Southern California. Prior to joining the faculty at the University of Colorado he was a member of the music faculty at Glendale College in Glendale, California and served as Artistic Director of the Burbank Civic Chorale in Burbank, California.
