Giovanni Storti was born in Milan on February 20, 1957; he studied and graduated (1977) at the melodrama school of the Arsenale Theater in Milan, mainly attending mimic dance courses with his friend, as well as future work colleague Aldo Baglio. In 1985 he began working at the Palmasera Village Resort in Cala Gonone, Sardinia, where he forms a comic duo with Aldo called I 'suggestionabili' (the alleged name of the duo La Carovana was denied by Storti during the broadcast of Rai 3 Kilimangiaro on December 2 2018). Here he meets Giacomo Poretti, then head of the village and part of the cabaret duo Hansel and Strüdel formed with Marina Massironi, his girlfriend at the time; Stefano Belisari (as disc jockey), Giorgio Porcaro, Mario Zucca, Eraldo Moretto and Marino Guidi were also part of that group of promising young entertainers.

Cinema

[edit]

In 1987 he took part in the film Kamikazen - Last night in Milan, directed by Gabriele Salvatores, in the role of a police marshal. Established the association of the comic trio formed with Aldo Baglio and Giacomo Poretti (flanked by Marina Massironi until 2000), the three made their debut on the big screen in 1997, with the comedy Three Men and a leg, also taking care of the screenplay and direction together with Massimo Venier; the huge box office success, coupled with a good reception from critics, earned the trio a David di Donatello nomination in the category of Best New Director, a special Silver Ribbon and a win at the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival for Best Comedy.

The following year comes out in cinemas Thus is life, a film in which he acts as in the previous one with Aldo, Giacomo and Marina, again taking care of the screenplay and direction with Massimo Venier. The film was a great success, placing first in the box office for the 1998-1999 season and making it one of the highest-grossing ever in Italy (32nd position). In 1999 he was hired to act in the film All the men of the moron directed by Paolo Costella, in the role of Pocoto, a criminal of the Yakuza flanked by his henchmen Sakato (Aldo Baglio) and Mamoto (Giacomo Poretti).

In 2000 the third film of the trio was released, 'Chiedimi se sono felice'; the latter represents the most commercial success of the trio and occupies the sixteenth position among the greatest successes ever in Italy. In 2001 Giovanni was nominated for the Silver Ribbons for Best Actor along with Aldo and Giacomo. 2002 was the year of the gangster movie The Legend of Al, John and Jack directed and written by the trio and Massimo Venier. Set in 1958 New York, in this film Giovanni plays John La Paglia, a scammer who, with the complicity of his brother Jack (Giacomo Poretti), attempts to trick Calogero Buccheri (Aldo Baglio) to frame crime boss Sam Genovese and collect his size. The film, like the others, enjoyed considerable success and was placed at the thirty-third position among the greatest successes ever in Italy.

He is always accompanied by two assistants, Doctor Pivetta (Giacomo Poretti), who has an unbearable pedantic attitude, and another doctor (Aldo Baglio) called each time with a different surname, who is rather ignorant and superficial. His name derives from the fact that he suffers from the disease of the same name, which causes him sudden memory lapses in which he no longer remembers what he was doing.
