Theatron; what is it and what is it used for? Theatron is used in an on-line space called Second Life. Theatrons are made up from real life theatres and projected into virtual reality. There are 20 real theatres that have been placed in virtual space. Looking at why higher education institution's use of theatrons to immerse students and scholars into many wider areas for research are; that without this new hands on virtual/self exploitation capturing of the theatres and historical spaces. Finding out information through exploring 'the theatres history' would not otherwise be possible without the use of Theatron created my Linden Lab back in 2003. Peter G.F. Eversmann is an associate professor at the department of Theatre Studies at the University of Amsterdam. While reading his maunal (Why Theatron?) his information appears to be accountable and accurate in reflection that the nature of self discovery, making your way around the theatrons and holding live streaming lectures stands as engaging, innovative and fresh way of educating important information to students and scholars. 'In a sense the new technologies can complement the scholoarly imagination and thus provide a uniquely appropriate medium to communicate the understanding of the theatre discipline in the past'. The theatrons looks at virtual buildings structure, the lay out of actors, audience, set and costume through very detailed capturing of the theatres. Theatron as a learning tool that makes the exploration of historical events and plays re-enacted in the Theatron theatres more accessible. Quantitative research shows that users of theatron as a educational product expresses a wider perspective of a production through the virtual reality. Which reflects a success in this multimedia learning tool. Educational institutions use Theatron because the amount of users reflect that it is sucessfully being used to help students learn and withhold knowledge.
