The Franklin Electric is an alt-folk band based out of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The band is signed to the Montreal label, Indica Records. The Franklin Electric consists of singer, songwriter, and producer John Matte along with Martin Derosby, Kevin Warren, and Ken Pressé.[1]

The band released their first album, "This is How I Let You Down" in 2014 independently before being picked up by Indica Records (producers of Half Moon Run and Phantogram) who reissued the LP. It achieved moderate success, peaking at number thirty-two on the Canadian charts. The Franklin Electric followed up with a "highly anticipated"[2] second album, "Blue Ceilings" in February, 2014. "Blue Ceilings" has already surpassed the bands first album, landing at number 25 on Canadian chart as of March 6, 2017.[3]

Since the release of "This Is How I Let You Down," the Franklin Electric has toured in Canada, Australia, and Europe, opening for musicians such as Ben Howard, Mumford and Sons, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes, City & Colour, and Half Moon Run.[2]

The Franklin Electric's music has been described as "mature musings of mature musings of life and love" by the Purple Revolver.[2] Band front-man, Matte, was quoted in the Montreal Gazette as describing the band's second album as "less folky melancholy, and delivered with more convicAtion.""[1]
