Data discrimination(Data discrimination)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Data_discrimination?veaction=edit

I've read about Data Discrimination for this assignment. (Https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Data_discrimination?veaction=edit) Data Discrimination is one of the controversial topics in Net Neutrality. This article explains in detail a specific definition of data discrimination, why it is a arguable topic,  and what position does the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) take. Also, it providing previous examples that happened in past. The length is not very long, but each paragraph contains details.

The advantages of this article are that the paragraphs are well-structured according to the flow of consciousness of the actual readers. Concepts (definition), pros and cons, positions of government, and the sequence of incidents that have occurred in order to help readers understand. It also provides additional explanations of the relevant topics or links to allow readers to identify the concepts in wide point of view. In addition, that the topic is balanced in terms of pros and cons as there is room for controversy. By describing why Data Discrimination is necessary from the standpoint of companies, the article expresses the opinions of the pros. On the contrary, the cons points out that the growth of the Internet may be hindered, and that Data Discrimination depends too much on the ISP's (Internet Service Provider) discretion. Besides, the article describes what the US government is taking on this issue. For example, this article cites the position taken by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). It also tells me how the federal courts make decisions about this matter by providing several lawsuits against the FCC. Moreover, the events related to this topic so far are summarized to show how this topic is happening in real life. The concept of data discrimination could be a bit abstract, but these examples lead us to easily understand the concepts.

Finally, the quotation is well suited to the characteristics of each paragraph. Some paragraphs that deal with data discrimination or related topics are cited in articles or publications, and when refer to actual cases or court cases (lawsuits) the paragraphs cited in articles.

There were strengths in this article, but there were also weaknesses too. Most of the information and events were outdated. Most of the related papers, articles and reports are over 10 years old and need updating. Moreover, I think that in some parts citation is not perfect enough. Some of the sections or concepts that are used to elaborate data discrimination have not been fully commented or quoted. Besides, half of the citation links do not work now. When I randomly selected 10 citation links, half of them were unavailable links. Most of the inaccessible links came with a “journals, publication unavailable" or "page not found" warning. Finally, I think that it is better to use various information sources in the pros and cons section since that part is important to understand why this concept matters. Although both the pros and cons are described in a balanced way, there are only two or three citation links, so I think that the more various sources for the pros and cons, the richer the document will be.

KakaoTalk

2/27 Add to an article : KakaoTalk (KakaoTalk#cite note-5)

Strengths of the article)

1. It is well-organized and fully contains the overall contents of KakaoTalk.

2. The description of the business model of KakaoTalk and its performance are shown well.

Weakness of the article)

1. KakaoTalk's new and various features(services) have not updated since 2015.

2. There is not enough contents that explain why many Koreans(93%) use KakaoTalk, and How KakaoTalk succeeded in Korea.

Improvements needed

- It would be nice to introduce some of the features recently added to kakaotalk.

- If there was an section comparing the differences between KakaoTalk and other messengers (facebook messenger, telegram, wechat, etc.).

On March 10, 2015, Daum Kakao launched a KakaoTaki service that allows users to call a taxi around the user using the KakaoTaxi application[1]. Thanks to the many taxi companies cooperating with the KakaoTaxi service[2], about 600,000 taxi-consumers are matched in every day in eight months of service launch[3].
