Morgan Hill Grammar School was built by respected architect and master builder, William Henry Weeks. The Morgan Hill Grammar School was built in 1922 and expanded with two wings in 1934. The building was closed in 1988 by the school district with the building and property later purchased by the City of Morgan Hill . It was ultimately decided by the City that the building was to be demolished to make way for a new community center on the property. A small group of concerned citizens saved the building from the wrecking ball by joining forces with the Morgan Hill Historical Society, Llagas Valley Investors (a local investor), the Morgan Hill Redevelopment Agency and a private school, The Carden Academy. The school building was moved from the corner of Monterey Road and Dunne Avenues to 410 Llagas Road where it was meticulously restored and renovated then reopened as a private elementary school in 2002. The project was honored by the State of California in 2003 and received the Governors Award for Historic Preservation.
