Kazakhstan - United States relations (notes)

- A keystone of these relations is due to no proliferation of nuclear weapons, following summits in 2010, 2012, and most recently in 2014.[1]

- Before the current Astana embassy, there was an embassy in 1992-2006 in Almaty.[1]

- The us Ambassador to Kazakhstan is George A. Krol[1]

-Kazakhstan has been on the UN security council Since January 1, 2017.[4]

US-Kazakhstan Aid

According to the US State Department[1], "U.S. Government assistance to Kazakhstan focuses on combating transnational threats (trafficking in persons, narcotics, terrorists, and weapons of mass destruction materiel), improving the functioning of the judiciary, promoting an increased public role for civil society and mass media, maintaining Kazakhstan’s open investment and trade environment, helping the government provide effective social services, and supporting Kazakhstan’s efforts to meet its goals on climate change." This was shown in the 2nd C5+1 meeting, where issues including competition between business in Central Asian countries Like Kazakhstan, or Uzbekistan. More initiatives launched include Central Asian transportation development, energy needs, and security on both a domestic and international level.[5] with regards to development in the Republic of Kazakhstan, the United States is the leading contributor of ODA (official developmental assistance) for Kazakhstan contributing around 26.35 million dollars annually.[6]
