Lucas Hall is an American actor of theatre and film.

Early Life

Lucas was born in Richmond, Virginia[1]. He was raised in both Richmond and Beaverdam, Virginia. He attended Patrick Henry High School in Ashland, Virginia[2]. Lucas attended Virginia Commonwealth University where he studied theatre performance. After he studied at Theatre VCU he toured nationally with Virginia Repertory Theatre (formerly Theatre IV, the Childrens Theatre of Virginia), for five years.

Acting Career

Lucas has performed in many theatres along the east coast from Wisconsin to Florida and Texas to Maine and every state in between. In 2003 he portrayed Wilbur Wright in The Wright Stuff while on tour with Theatre IV. Lucas, as Wilbur Wright, was the Co-Grand Marshal for The City of Hampton's 2003 Holly Days parade in honor of the 100 year anniversary of the Wright Brothers first flight[3]. Lucas originated the role of John Smith in Theatre IV's first tour of The True Story of Pocahontas the musical. After touring with Theatre IV for five years, Lucas went on to work with several theatres in Virginia including Richmond Shakespeare (a Shakespeare Theatre Association member theatre), Swift Creek Mill Theatre, Mystery Dinner Playhouse, The School of the Performing Arts in the Richmond Community (SPARC), the Concert Ballet of Virginia, Sycamore Rouge and Virginia Patriots, among others [4] [5] [6]. In September and October 2012 Lucas portrayed Ezra Carter, Joe Carter and Dr John Brinkley in central Virginia premiere of Keep on the Sunny Side at Swift Creek Mill Theatre [7] [8] . In March of 2012 Lucas portrayed Chris O'Connell in the Richmond premiere of Jewtopia at HATTheatre [9] [10]. In April and May of 2012 Mr. Hall portrayed Mr. Sipe in the world premiere of Scorched Earth at Barksdale Theatre[11]. Scorched Earth was written by David L. Robbins and is an adaptation of Robbins' 2002 novel of the same title[12] [13] [14] [15]. From January 2013 through April 2013, Lucas portrayed Rock and several other characters in Cotton Patch Gospel at Hanover Tavern produced by Virginia Repertory Theatre [16] [17] [18] [19] [20]. In 2013 Lucas portrayed The Superintendent in The Drowsy Chaperone at Swift Creek Mill Theatre[21]. In the Summer of 2014 Lucas portrayed the role of Snug in A Midsummer Night’s Dream as part of the Richmond Shakespeare Festival at Agecroft Hall [22]. In October 2016 Lucas portrayed the role of Andrew McNair in 1776: The Musical with Virginia Repertory Theatre [23]. Since 2006, Lucas has performed regularly in Liberty or Death[24] [25] [26] at Historic St. John's Church in Richmond. In Liberty or Death Lucas has portrayed several founding fathers including President Peyton Randolph, Thomas Nelson, Richard Henry Lee, John Tazewell, Benjamin Harrison, and Robert Carter Nicholas [27] [28].

Film & Television

Lucas has worked on various film and television projects which have been seen on such networks as HBO, NBC, The History Channel, the Syfy channel, PBS, Lifetime, National Geographic Channel, Showtime, Destination America, etc. His film credits include a Continental Army Officer in HBO's John Adams mini series, 1st Lieutenant C.S.A. in Sherman's March on The History Channel[29], Sergent Cozzi in Watch on the Rhine[30] which won Virginia Filmmaker Award at the James River Film Festival in 2008[31], Delegate Carter Braxton in Liberty or Death on PBS, Hunter #2 in The Feeding which premiered on the Sci-Fi Channel on July 11, 2006 prior to the official September 5, 2006 DVD release, a van driver on National Geographic Explorer's Nazi Mystery: Twins from Brazil[32], a Union Soldier in Killing Lincoln, a Union Soldier in Lincoln, Officer Atwell Dallas PD in Killing Kennedy [33], Mr. Allenton on the March 25, 2015 episode of Monsters and Mysteries in America [34], James McHenry in the FOX network Legends & Lies series [35], a Colonial Lawyer in the documentary titled "GerryRIGGED: Turning Democracy On Its Head" produced by OneVirginia2021 in conjunction with WCVE-TV [36], and Brian in Who's the Stiff?[37], among others [38].

Professional Non-Acting Career

Lucas was the Accounting Manager for Virginia Repertory Theatre from July 2007 until Oct 2017. Virginia Repertory Theatre, with a budget of $5 million, four distinct venues in the Greater Richmond Metro region, and an annual audience of over 550,000, is the largest professional theatre in Central Virginia. The educational touring arm for Virginia Rep (formerly Theatre IV on Tour) is the second-largest children's theatre in the nation and the largest in-school touring theatre company in the nation. As Accounting Manager he was the Accounts Payable Manager, Payroll Administrator, Human Resources Manager, Benefits Administrator, Mailroom Manager, Accounts Receivable Supervisor, and Labor Law Compliance Manager, among other duties. He then served as the Assistant to the Manager of Administrative and Corporate Affairs (part-time) until 2019.

In October 2019 Lucas was appointed Deputy Director for the Virginia Commission for the Arts[39] [40] where he would serve until November 2021. As Deputy Director his duties included: Department of Accounts - Vendor EDI Coordinator, Primary Cardinal Security Officer, Primary Payroll Security Officer, PSB Payroll Security Officer, and Purchase and Travel Card Program - Program Administrator; Department of Human Resource Management (DHRM) - Employer's Accident report (EAR) submission Authority, Human Resource Contract, Safety Contact, Payroll Contact, return to Work Contact, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Unit (DEI) liaison/cohort member, CommonHealth Agency Coordinator, CVC Agency Coordinator, and Benefits Administrator; Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion - agency liaison/cohort member; Department of Treasury - Fiscal Officer; Virginia Emergency Support Team (VEST) - Primary Liaison Officer (VLO), Primary Emergency Management Coordinator (EMC), and Alternate Public Information Officer (PIO); VITA (Virginia Information Technologies Agency) - Agency Information Technology Resource (AITR), Telco Coordinator backup, Information Security Officer, and Data Center Move "migration captain”; Virginia Retirement System - Primary Administrative Authority, Secondary VRS Administrator, and Secondary Security Officer; Virginia Department of Mines, Minerals & Energy - VCA State Energy Manager; Virginia Department of Small Business and Supplier Diversity (DSBSD) - SWaM Plan Administrator, and Virginia Conflict of Interest and Ethics Advisory Council - Agency Coordinator. He was also the State Arts Agency Accessibility Coordinator (liaison to the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) and to the Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation), National Assembly of State Arts Agencies - Deputy Directors Peer Group member, Accessibility Coordinators Peer Group member, and National Endowment for the Arts: Accessibility Coordinator, Authorizing Official, Grant Administrator.

Upon leaving public service, Lucas returned to the non-profit VCIMCO as the Vice President of Administration[41].

Lucas serves as the Treasurer for the Board of Directors of the nonprofit UpVote Virginia, and serves on the Advisory Board of Directors for the nonprofit Yes, And! Theatrical Company.

Personal life

Lucas has been married to actress/singer Stacie Rearden since 2009. Stacie and Lucas were featured in a Richmond Times-Dispatch article titled I DO I DO: Stacie Rearden & Lucas Hall in September of 2009 following their marriage [42]. The two met while touring with Virginia Repertory Theatre (formerly Theatre IV).
