Dra. Norka López Zamarripa.

Norka Lopez Zamarripa (b. Mexico City, July 14, 1961) She is a lawyer and Mexican academic, graduated from the Faculty of Law (National Autonomous University of Mexico). He obtained a specialty in International Law from the same university, a Master's degree in Law compared to the Complutense University of Madrid. Master and Doctor in International Law from the Division of Postgraduate Studies of the National Autonomous University of Mexico. National Researcher for the National System of Researchers level I (SNI) CONACYT.

Academic life[edit]

She is a Professor and Career Researcher in the Faculty of Law and in the Postgraduate Studies Division of the National Autonomous University of Mexico, with a teaching age of 30 years, where she teaches subjects, Public International Law and Private International Law, Law of the Treaties, International Organizations and International Criminal Law respectively. In 2006, 2010 and 2011 respectively, the H. Technical Council of the Faculty of Law awarded her, the Extraordinary Chairs "Raúl Cervantes Ahumada", "Héctor González Uribe" and the Special Chair "Mario de la Cueva" in recognition of their academic performance, professional responsibility and for her valuable adaptation to legal science.

Awarded the “Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz” Award 2012 edition by the National Autonomous University of Mexico, for her outstanding career in research, academy and dissemination of culture. Similarly, she has been recognized by the State of Chiapas with the "Pakal de Oro" award and the State of Tabasco with the "Choca de Oro" award. In 2013, the Government of the Republic of Peru granted the status of the "Legal Merit" for her outstanding legal career.

She has been a visiting professor at various national and foreign universities, has taught courses, conferences and participated in international conferences, has completed 18 diplomas in various legal matters. She is a member of the United Nations Mexican Committee for International Law, has been a consultant to the Organization of American States OAS and the International Council of Monuments and Places of Artistic and Historical Interest ICOMOS, for which she continues to conduct research on the Cultural Heritage of the Humanity.

External consultant of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Mexico), has received different awards and distinctions from international organizations, including the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (Acnur) and the United Nations Children's Fund ( UNICEF).

In 2006, she was elected by the H. Legislative Assembly of the Federal District (Mexico) IV Legislature, Supernumerary Electoral Magistrate of the Electoral Court of the Federal District, for the period 2007-2015.

In the years 2007-2008, she was invited by the Governments of Guatemala, Argentina, Peru, Brazil and Paraguay, as an election observer. She is a member of the National Legion of Honor, of the Mexican Academy of International Law and a full member of the American Association of Private International Law.

  • Honorary Doctorate awarded by the National College of Honorary Doctors, to merit for a life dedicated to academia and research.  Given in ceremony toasted on May 7, 2019, at the Old Palace of Medicine.
