Bio

[edit]

I'm a student who study English in Everett Community College. I was born in Nagasaki, Japan. I'm half Philippines and half Japanese. I have been studying English since high school. I have participated in English speech contest when I was a high school student. I got first place in the prefecture tournament, and third place in the national tournament. I like dancing, therefore I'm joining in Hip-Hop dance club in Everett Community College.

I have never used and written Wikipedia, so I don't know how to use this. There are many settings, options, and tools in Wikipedia, so I'm interested in how to edit the page or link. Also, there are no authors' name in Wikipedia, so I'm interested in what kind of person is writing informations in Wikipedia such as journalist, reporter, or ordinary people. One more thing, I would like to know some important points when you use this page and write information in Wikipedia.

Article evaluation

[edit]

I've been interested in Titanic since I'm a junior high school student. I knew the Titanic sinking accident from the film "Titanic" which is was released in 1997. The Titanic sinking accident is very tragic accident because more than 1,500 out of 2,224 people died. The Titanic sinking accident is the largest death toll of marine disasters. I visited the sinking of the RMS Titanic page on Wikipedia, and found three aspects of it worth commenting on: its not reliable citation, new article, and small grammar errors.

Citation

[edit]

There are some citation links and a lot of references at the bottom of the RMS Titanic page. I clicked and checked citation links, and most of links worked. It describes and explains about the accident's details. However, one of the citation links doesn't work. I clicked it and the page says it's related links but it seems don't relate with the Titanic. Also, there are many references on the Titanic page on Wikipedia, but it's difficult to see because it's too many of references. I think the page should be more clear and easy to see them.

Age

[edit]

I thought this page's article is old because the Titanic sinking accident happened a very log time ago. So, I thought there are some missing information in this article. I checked when the sinking of Titanic Wikipedia page was published. There is editing date at the bottom of the page, and it says the page was last edited on 26 April in 2019. Therefore, the article is up-to-date, and it seem have written new details.

Grammar errors

[edit]

There are no sentences that I can't understand, but there are some kind of grammar errors in that page. Some sentences are too long, and it hasn't comma between the sentences, so it's hard to read. I guess this problem is comma splices. Also, there are some sentences that need a conjunction. The page article doesn't have a big grammar error, but need some comma or conjunction between the sentences. I think it would be more easy to read and understand the sentences if publisher improve that points.

Summary

[edit]

Overall, I think the Titanic page is good. However, there are some points that need to improve. Also, in my opinion, I guess the publisher who writes the page needs to cut down some sentences which is not that very important. Because the informations on this page are too much, so it's hard to read all of the sections. If the publisher thinks the all of information is important, then I think the sentences need to be a paragraph. In the end, this page has a lot of information, citation, and good structure, also the fact is appropriate, so I think this page is okay.
