The SBB RABe 512, also known as IR-Dosto (lit.'InterRegio Bilevel'), is a class of bilevel electric multiple units being manufactured by Stadler Rail for Swiss Federal Railways. It is a derivative of the Stadler KISS and a follow-on to the SBB RABe 511 [de]. The trains are expected to enter service with the December 2023 timetable change.

History[edit]

Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) ordered 60 trainsets from Stadler Rail in April 2021 at a cost of CHF 1.3 billion.[1] Siemens criticized SBB's decision to exercise an option from a previous contract and not put the contract out to bid.[2] The trains are expected to begin revenue service with the December 2023 timetable change, with the order complete by 2026.[3]
