Félix Arias Goytre is a Spanish urban architect.

Biography

[edit]

He was in charge of the General Directorate of Urban Planning for the Community of Madrid from 1983 to 1991.[1]

He was the 14th candidate on the list for the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) in the 2003 municipal elections in Madrid,[2] and was subsequently elected councilor for the Madrid City Council. He took on the spokesperson role for Urban Planning, Housing, and Infrastructure for the Socialist Municipal Group.[3] After leaving the city council in June 2007, he was appointed in July 2007 as the general director of the Public Business Land Entity (SEPES); in November 2010, the Council of Ministers approved his appointment as the general director of Land and Urban Policies.[4]

Arias, who has collaborated with the North Zone Platform, Platform for the Right to the City, the Regional Federation of Neighborhood Associations of Madrid, and Ecologists in Action, stood out as one of the most active opponents of the Chamartín Operation.[3] In March 2019, his inclusion within the ranks of Bancada Municipalista was announced, which was then in talks for a coalition with United Left-Madrid and Anticapitalists for the 2019 municipal elections in Madrid. The composition of the list would be determined through open primaries.[3]

Awards
