Stefan Dymiter, pseudonym Cororo, was a Romani from Poland, and a self-taught violinist-virtuoso. He was born on the 5th of May 1938, in Płonna, near Sanok, Sanocki district, south-eastern Poland). He died at 64 on October 26, 2002, in Krakow, Poland).

Life

As a child Dymiter lost his sight, and his feet had to be amputated as well. He was one of the most famous street musicians in Poland. He collaborated with Krakow literary cabaret Piwnica pod Baranami (in English: The Basement, or the Cellar under the Rams). For honoring his talent he received an invitation to give a concert at the Krakow Philharmonic, where critics and the public were delighted with his talent. The musician was buried in Kowary, a town in Jelenia Góra County, in south-western Poland.

CORORO is an ethnic music festival named after him, which has been taking place in Kowary since 2012.
