Fans support and encourage Stade Rennes FC. Founded in 1901, this French football club, based in Rennes, arouses, from its first years of existence, a growing interest among sports fans in Brittany, attracting several hundred, then several thousand people who attend the matches played by its teams. Their support and interest are organized in the form of various associations or subscriptions, which play a decisive role in safeguarding the club when it finds itself in financial difficulty, in the 1930s and 1970s in particular.

Stade Rennais is The most popular club in the Brittany region, but whose notoriety remains moderate on the national scene, Stade Rennes FC sometimes sees its role going beyond the simple sporting framework: its successes in the Coupe de France in 1965 and 1971 are the occasion for many thousands of people, proudly wearing the colors of Brittany, to follow their team to Paris, and to celebrate its victories in the streets of Rennes, participating in the renewal and affirmation of the Breton identity in the 1970s.
