Mahinda’s 35-year career in driven by his passion for adventurous, Improvisational, left-field Drama. In pursuing that passion, he pushes the limitations of his gear. His Script writing and mastery of technology are broadly appreciated in the media industry and have always opened doors for him. Mahinda produced his latest stage drama, YEAI… YEAI…. YEAI…. Rhythm Art Concert and released it under the Mass Media Foundation. Mahinda devised the new name to distinguish his foray into Stage Drama from the cultural drums harmony style that defined his earlier career. He helps noted singer score major releases. Such as Senanayake Weraliyadda, Rookantha Gunathilaka, Sangeeth Weerasooriya. Ect; and his recent credits include Tele Drama and And Company and Dot Com. Mahinda also works with International Film directors as an Assistant Director. At the root of it all is Mahinda’s fascination with Script Writing and song writing. One could say that Mahinda is a pioneer in that genre. In the mid’ 20s, he directed and scripted several Tele Dramas to the well-known TV stations, such as Makara Dadayama, Karuwala Eliya, etc.; “Before I founded this Mass Media Foundation, the thing that interested me was the idea of treating mass media as people were treating paper Media,” Mahinda says. : When the opportunity arose to do it in an economically feasible way, I just jumped right in.” These days, Mahinda routes the output of his Mass Media Asian Award ceremony that serve as building blocks for all media in Asian region. However, Mahinda finds that today’s media is fresh and inventive. He adds that culture of media “often comes from a forward-looking source, and then, all of a sudden, it’s deep in the pop culture. TV commercials are musically more creative than anything you hear in film these days. I’m waiting for the next mind-blowing drum record, whoever makes it. Right now the technology is so wide open that I look forward to hearing more original music.”
