1. TALUKA KHIPRO

The Taluka Khipro is an old one Taluka since about 1895, as showing at the stone of Mukhtiarkar office building. Before creating of District Sanghar it was the part of District Tharparkar. In the year 1947 Khipro alongwith other talukas i.e. Shahdadpur, Sinjhoro and Sanghar formulated Sanghar District. In 1948 District Sanghar was abolished and in 1949 it was again started its function as District, but in the year 1950 it was again abolished till 1953. The Sanghar has started its function as a District in 1953 it was consist upon 4 talukas 1. Sanghar, 2. Khipro, 3. Sinjhoro and 4. Shahdadpur. Later on Taluka Tando Adam and Jam Nawaz Ali created. In the year 1977 taluka Khipro became Sub-Division. The taluka Khipro is biggest taluka of District Sanghar, in the bigning it had an area 14,45,602 acres out of which 11,09,129 acres lying with desert area It had 125 dehs, 35 Tapas and 5 Circles. After wards taluka Sindhri was created and a big portion of taluka Khipro was merged in taluka Sindhri. Now taluka Khipro consist upon 78 dehs, 21 Tapas and 03 Circles and speared upon 13, 00,765 acres, having 11,09,129-00 acres desert land.

NAME OF KHIPRO TALUKA.

There are different opinions for the name of Khipro, some are of the opinion that namely Khipar was residing in this area, he was a popular personality therefore the name of Khipro is in the name of at man, but some people are say that the name of Khipro is in the name of a lady Khipri and some peoples have idea that the name of Khipro is in the name of a desert plant namely Khip.

33. STATEMENT SHOWING THE HISTORICAL PLACES OF TALUKA KHIPRO.

I. HISTORY OF HATHUNGO This Town is connected with Khipro by metalled road at the distance of 5 miles. Hathungo is also called the gateway of desert as from Hathungo desert area stars. There is Indus Rangers Head Quarters Headed by a Major of Army in whose command the Boarder police (Ranger) look after the boarder area. There is District Council rest office, Union Council Office, Basic Health Unit, cattle pound in Hathungo town. There are one High School and tow primary schools in Hathungo town. There is one post office in Hathungo Town. This town located at the left side of Nara Canal on sandy dunes giving pleasant scene and is mostly inhabitant by Ex-Military service men who are settled there after creation of Pakistan.

2. HISTORY OF GIRHORE SHARIF. This village is connected with Khipro by metalled road at the distance of 25 miles on south. There are Basic Health Unit, One High School, One Primary School. This village famous for the Shrine of great Saint, Scholar and peot Makhdoom Abdul Raheem Girori of Kalohra period. His poetry book was published by Dr. Alama Daudpota as Kalam Girhori, Makhdoom Girhori always faught with anti shariat trends and in this connection he faught with a Hindu Jogi Mahadev in theyear 1778 and become martyr. Thus he is called Shaheed Girhori on every Monday of new moon peoples in large number use to gather at Girhore and offer fateh and prayer for great Girhori Shaheed who gave his life in the way of Islam.

3. HISTORY OF KHANI RAJAR This village is connection with Khipro mettaled road at the distance of 6 miles in the south. There is shrine of great poet Manthar Faqir Rajar who died on 10th of Shawal 1353 A.H. He had complied hundreds of Kafies Madahi and Moloods.

4. HISTORY OF RATO KOT. This village is connected with Khipro by mettalled road at the distance of 12 miles. There are one Basic Health Unit and Primary School. Ruins of Rato Kot are the memory of Tarkhan period in the 16th Century A.D in the history of Sindh. Rato Kot was central place of Sodhas Rajputs of Khipro and it was located as island in the stream of Nara Canal spread over the area of 100 acres of land. It was boatsport at that time. There is one historical temple of Hindu which is oldest of 300 years above. And nowadays a there is one Gadi Nasheen namely Sain Shankar nath and all over the world’s Hindu community is visiting this temple and offering their prayers.

5 HISTORY OF MINERALS. Dhilyar Salt lake and its brances are the rich sources of salt reserve in Khipro Sub Division and there is no other minerals in the District. The Salt depot at Dhilyar was opened in year 1880-81, Salt was being collected and disposed of locally on contract basis. Now excavation of salt lake is allowed on short term leaes basis. 6 HISTORY OF FAUNA From the point of view of Founa, this region falls within the desert and semi desert areas except where the land is extensively fed by perennial canals. Sheep live on small gross and dry sand hill pasture. Camesl, Buffaloes , Caws and Goats are found every where. Several species of mammals live in desert and water logged area, such hog, deer, pg and gazelle. The reptiles are not as numberous except in desert area of Khipro. Crocodiels abound in Nara Canal. Asses are plartiful and are used as beasts of burden.
