Marek Piechowiak (4 August 1962) is a Polish philosopher and lawyer; professor of legal sciences[1][2][3]; habilitated in philosophy. Scholarships and professional trainings inter alia in Nuffield College Oxford, International Institute of Human Rights (Strasbourg), Council of Europe and in the Netherlands Institute of Advanced Study in the Humanities and Social Sciences (Mellon Scholarship)[4]. His scholarly work concerns international and constitutional protection of human rights, mainly its philosophical aspects (also in historical perspective).[5] His current research focus­es on axiological foundations of law (especially constitutional law) and formal account of rights.[6]. In 2000 he was nominated by the Polish Parliament to be the first Polish Ombudsman of Children Rights[7][8], which counts to constitutional offices in Poland[9][10][11][12].
