I am Mariam Titilope Gobir, an academics in the field of Linguistics. I am currently employed by the Kwara State University, Malete, Nigeria. My areas of research interest include: Phonology, Psycholinguistics/ Applied Linguistics, Sociolinguistics and Stylistics.
I also have experience in manuscript review, having served in the capacity of a reviewer for some journal outlets such as the Contemporary Journal of African Studies,(CJAS) Ghana; and All Nations University Journal of Applied Thought (ANUJAT), Ghana.
I hold B.A. and M.A. degrees in English Language, with specialisation in Stylistics, while my Ph.D., which is at the dissertation stage, is in Second Language (L2 Phonology), with the specification of Nigerian English.
I have experience in conducting survey researches. My Ph.D. work, which centres on the examination of the proficiency level of the Nigerian newscasters across the six geopolitical zones in English Language is a point of reference.
I have experience in conducting interdisciplinary researches. For instance, my Ph.D . thesis adopts a blend of theories and concepts in linguistics; phonology, sociolinguistics, and cognitive linguistics. Also, my study adopts the application of the software for natural language processing, which helps in the acoustic analysis of speeches--Praat software, for the analysis of the data samples collected through the survey method, interview.
I constitute membership of professional bodies such as: the English Scholars Association of Nigeria (ESAN); Literary Society of Nigeria (LSN); Nigerian Association of Phoneticians (NAP); and African Doctoral Lounge (Member)
