Leadership[edit]

Leaders are visionary people who influences a group of people in order to achieve a common goal. A true leader influences by showing the way, knowing the way and by going the way with a group of people or a team. This can make the process or work more advance in completing the work. Along the road to success a leader looks for more opportunities and comes up with immediate and long-term ways to enhance the process or to achieve the targets. Leaders take calculated risks, they also communicate well using the people skill by appointing the staffs and tasking them with reasonable and unreasonable risks in order to push them to progress. Leaders always see opportunities coming up. Always aim high in creating exciting things for the workers and the environment. A leadership is the opposite of dictatorship. In a leadership absolute power is concentrated in the hands of a leader but never used bleakly. In line with John Maxwell there are 7 factors in a leader[1].

  • Character – who they are
  • Relationships – who they know
  • Knowledge – what they know
  • Intuition – what they feel
  • Experience – where they’ve been
  • Past success – what they’ve done
  • Ability – what they can do

According to Mr.Bennis leaders role is just like an actors role. Its is not how you think of yourself but how others see you[2].

A good leader delegates work, closely monitor and facilitate products and motivate to complete the tasks. Afterwards reward the staffs fairly. This encourages staffs to take challenges as opportunities arises. Sometimes the reward is a word of appreciation while it can also be in terms of increments additional responsibilities or recognitions.

Regenerative Leadership[edit]

Regenerative Leadership can be defined as a focus of human lifestyle and pattern on human behavior which matters in business and environment, intensive to what the company can give back to the society sometimes provided in the term of corporate social responsibly projects (CSR). In a regenerative leadership the living lifestyle is shaped on the focus of environment[3]. As discussed on many platforms such as TedTalks and United Nation convention on climate change it encourages organizations not to harm the nature when eagerly thriving to maximize profit[4].

Within the production level such as in primary sector of production this issue can be minimized as organizations can significantly focus on this matter by the regenerative leaders.

Why do we have few female leaders?[edit]

Princess Diana Princess of Wales 1997 Washington D.C.

Do we get the support from our family? Is the place of work good enough to leave those kids behind at home?

There has been several motives behind the cause where nonexistence of female leaders incorporate to the leadership roles. Becoming a female leader has not been very stress-free for most of the ladies out there, it takes time dedication and support as well.

Today everything has slowly started to change, it is still challenging and females don’t get enough chances to speak up or are not asked for opinions due to cultural beliefs and other various reasons. Some leaders we work for do not facilitate the flexibility we deserve. These factors force the well-educated and dedicated female staffs to make harder choices between career success and private life.

To see more females as higher level candidates in this competitive world, we need to make sure less family support is not the main reason they drop out. Leaders in organizations can extent women with more opportunities. Mainly we need to structure our little girls today to focus on success aiming to be better leaders tomorrow. Pursuant to Thomson obstacle for the industries to hire female is lack of balance in work and personal life[5]

Motivation[edit]

Motivation can be an internal or external force which stimulates and drives you in a particular way, in return of a reward. A reward is not always a financial gain, it can be extrinsic or intrinsic in terms of recognition, responsibilities or an increment [5]. There are 3 basic factors of motivation.

  • Direction - In motivation, direction can be defined as an individual action or a goal dynamically tasked. The goal may be influenced in several ways but if motivated and directed and guided by a leader makes the employer believe in themselves and the process.
  • Energy - Energy can be defined as the key of all motivational factors. In our everyday life we need energy to perform basic tasks from household work to finishing the new project assigned. A good energy can gear up to fight any obstacle. Researches show high energetic cheerful has a high chance of becoming better leaders.
  • Persistence - In motivation persistence is the duration of energy expanded towards a goal. With the internal and external influencing factors the energized individuals find satisfying and fun ways to persist until the target is achieved. This can make the employer more satisfied about his/her wok.

Apart from the above factors there are more leadership actions to motivate employees. A good communicator can make the employees more special and valued. Discussing tasks and asking for ideas might sound a bit of an easy tasks, but this can boost employee confidence.

Transferring your leadership optimism and visions inspires others to foresee a bright future from your side. This makes them more powerful and motivates them to work in your team. To be a dependable leader transferring your knowledge and vision is very essential. Likewise to nourish the team, building relationship in the purpose of creating a driven goal is the key to success in every organization[7]

Crisis Leadership[edit]

During a pandemics like the Covid19 is the time everyone is in need of true leaders. Some organizations are falling apart due to lack of financial support and other resources including lack of genuine leaders to stand out. Along with the ups and downs a good leader will be able to maintain a balance while a bad leadership falls faster than ever. All organizations and employees requires a better version of a leader who can take an opportunity in every crisis. Someone who can offer both mental and physical support with a positive perception. A leader in a crisis knows even if it is hard today even Corona virus will not last. This too shall pass.

Leaders always put employees as there first priority. This can add value to the organization by creating a better lead team with or without the crisis. In order to provide the best ideas and input to the company a leader must always be well educated and updated about the crisis. All preventions and restricted measures must be taken in consideration to protect the team and himself. Flexibility and good communication makes the process more horizontal and transparent which gives the employees a clear vison of their tasks. Bring your team closer and be an authentic example wearing masks and washing hands while keeping the social distancing measures.[8]

In a crisis it may not be easy to tell when things will go back to normal, which is not even very important to worry about now. But how to get through is a better question. It is always better to ask for advice from team member and understand their perspective on the new normal changes.

Corona virus has confused us all. But reminding to put yourself together in a crisis reveals the real choices we as leaders make. Do not let the fear dominate us and fight the emotions to stop the distraction. We as leaders need to adopt the change out of our own strength not by force in order to support our team.

It is difficult to manage a group of team in a crisis if they are not willing to act as followers. It is not an easy job to follow complex leaders too. So it is high time to reveal the true leadership quality in everyone. The world need true leaders to survive in every crisis. Let us play our role.
