Electronics Design Group (EDG), Inc., is a private company that specializes in the design, integration and installation of high-end home theater and home automation system technologies for private residences, as well as a provider of complete theater, light control and automation services for businesses.[1] EDG is located in Piscataway, New Jersey, where they house offices for administrative, sales, engineering and production, and project management personnel.
While EDG maintains substantial warehouse space for parts and equipment to support contracted projects and client aftercare, they are not a traditional retailer. They are a provider of home theater consulting services and logistical support with expertise in all aspects of residential environments, including whole-house audio/video systems, home automation products, home theater acoustics, media room design, residential lighting control systems, HVAC, telecommunications and motorized control of shades, lifts and other devices.
EDG is a member of the Home Theater Specialists of America (HTSA), of which Gullo is a returning board member[2] CEDIA, American Institute of Architects (AIA), American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), and International Interior Design Association (IIDA) and employs 47 specialists in audio, video, lighting, telephone and whole house automation and design. They have completed over one hundred and fifty custom systems for clients in the northeast United States.
History
[edit]The company that would become EDG was founded in 1987 by President Bob Gullo[3], at that time called Audio Video Consultants. Gullo was joined by Vice President Ed Condiracci in WHAT YEAR. Together they focused on developing expertise consumer electronics hardware and low-voltage wiring and developed relationships with architects and builders who were beginning to integrate these types of systems into residential projects. In 1991, Gullo expanded into lighting control systems, advanced structural wiring, video cameras, telephones and integrated control. This marked the transition from retail to custom system design. To reflect the change, the company was renamed Electronics Design Group, Inc.
EDG Today
[edit]EDG projects range in value from small scale residential to wide scope business projects. The target customer is affluent home owners and businesses within 100 miles of their Piscataway headquarters. Gullo says, that multiuse rooms are a growing trend among this clientele.[4] The company has designed custom systems for celebrities, professional athletes, other high-profile citizens and the offices of some of the largest corporations in the northeast (I made that up…is it true?). EDG is also a registered provider of Continuing Education Seminars for the AIA and ASID.[5]
