LILIAC is a hard rock and metal band consisting of five siblings, Samuel (lead guitar, backing vocals), Abigail (drums), Melody (lead vocals, bass guitar), Ethan (bass and rhythm guitar), and Justin (keyboards) with the band members' father, Florin Cristea, serving as the band's manager and producer. Florin and Nineta Cristea (the parents) emigrated from Romania to the United States as children. The word, "liliac" in Romanian means bat.[1][2]
History
[edit]The band briefly referred to themselves on YouTube video uploads as "The Cristeas",[3] but unofficially since September 2015 (based on YouTube video uploads),[4] and officially since May 2017 (based on U.S. Patent and Trademark Office documents),[5] they have been LILIAC.
LILIAC garnered attention from cover songs they performed live on Santa Monica Pier beginning in 2015, some of which they recorded and uploaded to YouTube, particularly their cover of Ozzy Ozbourne's Crazy Train, published on YouTube on April 13, 2018, with 3.5 million views. They have also uploaded studio recordings to YouTube, the most popular of which is a cover of Metallica's Enter Sandman, published on December 8, 2017 with 4 million views. Their YouTube channel has 131,668 subscribers; their Facebook page has 158,815 followers; their Instagram account has 35,200 followers; and on Spotify they have 10,000 followers.
On January 25, 2019 the band released the EP Chain of Thorns, which consists of six original songs.[6][7].
