The artist maintains a personal web page, [www.markportersculpture.com] where photographs of his recent projects are posted.

Mark Porter was born in Kankakee, Illinois in 1973. He graduated with BA and MA degrees from Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Illinois. Most recently he participated in the exhibition Artists Run Chicago hosted by the Hyde Park Art Center, Chicago, Illinois and the Olfaction Exhibition hosted by the Empty Shop Gallery in Durham, UK. Porter has held solo exhibitions in the Fine Arts Center Gallery of Northeastern Illinois University, Chicago, IL. and the Finch Gallery, Chicago, IL.

Arts reviewer Morgan Phelps of Flavorpill Chicago describes Porter's work exhibited in the solo exhibition Nurture/Alter held in the FIne Arts Center Gallery of Northeastern Illinois University, Chicago: "Fusing found objects and his own custom-made creations, Mark Porter produces one-of-a-kind pieces that gradually transform themselves — and the gallery — as the show progresses. The mechanical-drawings-turned-sculptures in Nurture/Alter mimic the irregularity of human actions and portray narratives through a series of projected images, videos, and fluid expulsions. Porter places his project blueprints next to the sculptures to aid in the understanding of their development, which continues free of his influence for the duration of the exhibition. [1]
